Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations (UN) conferences. In this simulation, students step into the shoes of delegates from all over the world, to debate relevant issues to the representing countries. While in this position, students make speeches, draft resolutions, deliberate with delegates whom might be allies and adversaries, follow the rules and procedures and resolve conflicts; all in order to resolve conflicts at the countries best interests. Before stepping into the conference, Model UN participants research the maximum out of the country they will be representing in the upcoming debate. With this, students learn the interests and concerns, of the country being represented, in the topic(s) going to be debated. The insights they gain from their exploration of history, geography, culture, economics, science and politics contribute to the authenticity of the simulation when role playing starts. The delegates’ in-depth knowledge of their countries guarantees a lively and memorable experience! MUN truly helps shape students into better people, by developing their leadership, research, public speaking and teamwork skills. The Model United Nations experience, besides being one student will never forget, it will help them in college and job applications.
